1966 | Foundation of the chair and institute. Accommodation in offices of the old refectory. Head of the institute: Prof. Dr.-Ing. E. Blaß |
1967 | Move into rooms in the new building of the Institute of Foundry Engineering. Start of planning for an independent institute building. |
1972 | Start of construction work. |
1974 | Move into the new building at Leibnizstraße 15. |
1976 | Prof. Dr.-Ing. E. Blaß receives a call to the TU Munich. |
1977 | Prof. Dr.-Ing. A. Vogelpohl from Karlsruhe takes over the management of the institute. Research activities 1977-2006 The initial focus was on the modeling of rectification in packed columns using the Stefan-Maxwell equation to describe mass transfer and the verification of the theoretical results on a packed column as well as experimental studies on fluid dynamics in pulsed liquid-liquid extraction columns and the development of design methods for such columns. A new focus was the development of high-performance reactors for the purification of industrial wastewater and their modeling. |
2006 | Prof. Dr.-Ing. Strube becomes the new Institute Director following the retirement of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Vogelpohl. |
